The Table is the flat part from the end of the window on down to the shank. It should be perfectly flat so the reed can seal against it. Any irregularity in the table can cause the reed to become unresponsive. To get a perfectly flat table is not easy and reqires careful attention to lapping on a flat granite surface with several grades of sandpaper.
