Client Reviews of my saxophone mouthpieces

Model: Rollover Tenor .120"

"The Springer Rollover tenor mouthpiece has been a great fit for me. Over the years I've been back and forth between "traditional" mouthpieces (like an Otto Link) and more "contemporary" mouthpieces (like Dukoff or Guardala). I was looking for a balance between the warmth of the traditional setups, and the projection and brilliance of the more contemporary pieces. Springer's Rollover has the flexibility to give me all of that. The response and evenness of the piece is terrific. And I can move my air around to get all the different colors I want. The .120 tip opening is larger than I had played before, but the response is so good that I don't feel like I'm having to work any harder. It's great to have a mouthpiece that will do whatever I want. I'm not having to wrestle with my sound, so I can concentrate on the music!"

"I've been a tenor player since the 1970s. Like most sax players I know, I have a drawer full of mouthpieces that I have accumulated over the years. Each one has its tantalizing strengths and disappointing weaknesses. I never thought that I would find a single mouthpiece that excelled in any situation, without compromise. Then, I got a Patrick Springer mouthpiece and changed my mind. "
"My Springer is the best mouthpiece I have ever played. I have already used it in demanding recording sessions with a studio orchestra, both in precise, subtle section work and in shouting solo features. I've played it in quiet duos, trios and quartets up to bombastic big bands, blazing instrumental ensembles and confidential little groups with singers, in small clubs, big halls, and even outdoors, unamplified. In every situation, this mouthpiece has done exactly what I wanted, with ease. The voice is warm and consistent through all registers and at all dynamics, the attack precise, the response instantaneous and the articulation nimble. It makes my horn feel like it works better. The intonation is good. It's easy to find reeds for it. It is happy playing quietly, and it is still happy playing as loudly as I am physically able to push it. It does it all! "

"Congratulations to Patrick Springer as he brings a fine new product to the wide world of saxophone mouthpieces."

Model: Rollover Tenor .105"

"Just wanted to put in a good word about Patrick Springer and his mouthpieces. First, Patrick is very easy to work with. He seems genuinely interested in helping you find the mouthpiece that works best for you. Second, I REALLY like the alto and tenor mouthpieces he has sent me. I'm currently playing his alto .90 and the tenor .105. Third, you can't beat the price. Honestly, his $100 hand finished tenor mouthpiece that I own plays much better than a $400 "vintage" mouthpiece I tried earlier this year."

Model: HR Tenor .105"

"It's the best hard rubber mouthpiece I've ever blown. EVER! Everything I've looked for -- and never been able to find. Finally, finally I can get the notes in all the registers with ease. And the sound is very even, very much in-tune. Best of all is perhaps the volume of tone which rivals my Link metal 7*. In fact as I get accustomed to the hard rubber, I expect it will outblow the metal as it is so comfortable -- a pair of old slippers. I can really let go without the sound breaking apart or getting away from me." "Your mouthpiece is proving to be the best piece I've ever played."

Model: HR Alto .075" and HR Soprano .055"

"The Springer HR .075" packs a lot of punch." "...With flawless intonation, it speaks from a subtle airy whisper to piercing marcato. Within that range each individual note can be shaped and sculpted into endless individual uniqueness. It is my belief that each player will be able to easily express their own sense of musical taste and style on a Springer, as this mouthpiece is capable of a great deal of musical color. It's a mouthpiece that puts the player in the driver's seat as the range of nuance and expression is more or less unlimited." "...It has a cutting, but controllable tone. I'm particularly impressed with the intonation, and it's comparatively easy to control dynamics. I can drop down to an airy pianissimo very easily." "...When using the Springer piece, my playing is more relaxed because I don't have to work hard to blow it, nor struggle to stay in tune. The blowing character of the Springer is a lot like the Vandoren V16-A5M, but the Springer's tone has more sax appeal."
"After giving the mouthpiece you sent a more thorough test, I'm very pleased with it. The Springer really changed the character of my horn. Before with a Yamaha 4C, it was blaringly loud and strident. Now my curved soprano sax could be mistaken for Chet Baker's trumpet. The tone is smooth and mellow..."

"Altissimo pops out. Soft, loud, make a grand tone, play a more focused tone, everything is possible. I'm completely suprised. You are a real master. Patrick my SML now really sings!! even better as my Selmer BA with its Meyer." .. "But best playing mouthpieces for the money is the new Springer Meyer Killer for Alto sax. Very good overall, always in tune!!!, standard very nice and full but also bright sound , and you really can work on your sound with this piece, good altissimo!" .. "It's all up to you. Most pieces give a specific sound but with the Springer you can develop your own personal sound." .. "0.75 0.85 0.95 i believe. I've got a 0.75 and i'm using it on a coming cd recording."
