Far Left - The very beginning out of the mold.
2nd from Left - Bored out the chamber, and removed flashing from table.
Total time: approx. 35mins.(alto) 45mins. (tenor)
3rd from Left - Removed flash from tip, flatten table, apply facing,
correct tip rail. Total time: approx. 1hr. 15mins (alto) 1hr. 30mins (tenor)
** I have found that leaving the side rails wide and extra "meat" on
the table does NOT affect the sound very much at all on this model. It requires a lot of time to do these things so for the student models I have decided to leave them in this condition. The SOUND is what concerns me - not the look.**
Last - PRO MODELS ONLY (coming soon)- Thin side rails, thin tip rail, and open window.
Total time: approx. 2hrs. (alto) 2hrs. 30mins. (tenor)
I engrave the serial numbers, LOGO, and model type into each mouthpiece using my New Hermes ITX engraving machine.
Then they are given a paint job of either Green (for the Step-Up) or Gold (for the Pro). Then a quick buffing to make them shiny - and out to your door.
